Our providers are committed to providing the best health care possible to patients. In keeping with our goal there will be times when your PCP (Primary Care Physician) will involve particular specialists to meet your medical needs. Your PCP may direct you to a specialist within our practice or one affiliated with a local practice within our referring network as established by your insurance plan.

Working closely with specialists that we know makes it possible for us to better coordinate your total care. Our PCPs will only make referrals to specialists with whom we have confidence in their abilities to provide you with excellent care. The specialists we routinely use are Board Certified in their fields and have cared for many patients with medical conditions like yours.

Under unique circumstances, your PCP may refer you to a physician outside of our usual network of specialists. This is only done if the expertise needed to handle a particular issue is not available from a specialist affiliated with our practice and network.

When you make your appointment with the recommended specialist, contact our office immediately so that we can help process your insurance referral if you have an HMO plan.

The following are guidelines to help in the processing of the referrals:

1. Please do not self refer to other specialists. Your care is best coordinated by your PCP.
2. You must contact our office at least 5 business days prior to the specialist appointment (unless it is an emergency) to allow sufficient time for reviewing and processing with your insurance plan.
3. If you are unable to get an appointment within a reasonable period of time please contact our office and we will assist you getting a timely appointment.
4. If you feel there is a reason to be seen outside of our local network please contact our office for appointment with one of our providers to discuss your concerns.
5. If your PCP does not agree with the necessity of a self referred specialist appointment and does not approve the referral you may be responsible for payment to the specialist.
